The Department of Public Utilities is responsible for all public utility projects within the City of Slidell. This Department is responsible for maintaining and operating a potable water system and collecting of Wastewater for 30,000 residents. In order to accomplish this mission, the Department has control over three divisions: Wastewater Collection, Water, and Meter.
The Wastewater Collection Division is responsible for the repair of broken sewer mains; the installation and repair of clean-outs, laterals, and service lines; the repair and construction of manholes; the maintenance and repair of Wastewater force mains from lift stations; and the maintenance of all lift stations in the City of Slidell.
The Water Division is responsible for the repair of broken water mains, the installation and repair of service lines and water taps and the operation of water wells in the City.
The Meter Division is responsible for the installation and maintenance of meters, and for reading all the meters.
