MISSION STATEMENT
SLIDELL POLICE DEPARTMENT

The Mission of the men and women of the Slidell Police Department will be to provide our citizens and visitors with exceptional law enforcement services, while working to prevent crime.

VALUES OF THE SLIDELL POLICE DEPARTMENT

1.	Our top priority will be to provide a crime free, safe and secure environment, and to reduce serious vehicle accident rates.
2.	We will treat all people with respect, dignity and equality.
3.	We will maintain a zero tolerance posture to crime throughout our city in regard to the safety of our citizens’ lives and their property.
4.	We will work with our citizens in a joint effort to maintain order and be mindful of problems caused by recent events.

2008 Goals and Objectives

The primary Goal of the Slidell Police Department is to provide a secure, crime-free environment for our citizens and visitors. The Slidell Police Department's desire is to restore and maintain the quality of life that our community has come to enjoy and expect.

Goal:	Continue to reduce the crime rate:
	Objectives:	Provide an adequate response time to insure the safety of the lives and property of our citizens.
		Encourage the spirit of cooperation and partnership with our citizens so they will continue to provide the Department with information to assist us in preventing and solving crimes within our community.
		Maintain a highly visible force to dissuade crime in the City of Slidell and provide a sense of security for our citizens and visitors.
Goal:	Treat our citizens and visitors in a fair and professional manner:
	Objectives:	Maintain a citizen responsive Internal Affairs Department that thoroughly investigates all complaints against Police Department employees.
Goal:	Maintain the standards established by the Chief of Police and the Committee for the Accreditation of Law Enforcement Agencies:
	Objectives:	Maintain Accreditations by meeting standards on a continued basis.
Goal:	Provide instruction to the students of our community that teaches safety and crime free behavior:
	Objectives:	Continue “Booze “N Cruise, You Lose” Program to high school students.
Goal:	Train Police Department Officers and employees in all facets of their profession:
	Objectives:	Maintain training and retraining activities.
		Increase in-services and training opportunities to civilian employees.
		Continue to train our Officers in professional procedures and conduct
Goal:	Reduce the serious vehicle accident rate
	Objectives:	Monitor the accident rate and accident locations and apply the proper enforcement levels to reduce serious accidents.
