About:
The Slidell Police Department's Communications Division is a 24-hour a day, seven-day a week division. The Communications Division handles all of the phone and radio communications for the entire department. They act as the first point of contact for most of the department. This division receives, classifies, and prioritizes calls from the public and dispatches the calls that require police response; transfers and/or directs calls that do not require police response to the proper agency or unit; performs stolen checks on items, wanter or missing checks on persons, and hit confirmations from entering agencies; processes requests and/or subpoenas for 911 tapes and Computer Aided Dispatch (CAD requests). Our primary goal is to keep track of the whereabouts of the officers and relay pertinent information for their safety. We must be able to rapidly and accurately verify and relay the infromation to our personnel and outside agencies.
