The
Department of Parks and Recreation is responsible
for the maintenance and scheduling of all 32 city
parks, the Summer Recreation Program for children,
city beautification, landscaping of public buildings,
general maintenance of city buildings, and the sponsorship
of certain city events.
The
Department provides crews to set up Christmas
Under the Stars and works during the Mardi
Gras season to put up safety barricades and
clean city streets after each parade.
