Where Are They Now? showcases talented St. Tammany alum
Animators, artists, photographers, singers, dancers, musicians, authors, sculptors, graphic artists, culinary artists, furniture makers and even a magician will all be a part of the City of Slidell’s Where Are They Now? 2010 exhibition. This unique exhibit will showcase St. Tammany alum who enjoy careers in the arts and current students who are pursuing artistic endeavors.
Where Are They Now? opens on Friday, August 27 with an opening reception from 7 to 9 p.m. at the Slidell Cultural Center at City Hall. Admission is free.

Blue Dog exhibit premiers at Slidell Cultural Center
The opening week of the much anticipated “Blue Dog Days of Summer: George Rodrigue from the New Orleans Museum of Art” has finally arrived. The opening reception will be held Friday, June 25, from 7 to 9 p.m. at the Slidell Cultural Center on the first floor of City Hall. Admission is free.
The exhibit features original paintings of the loveable blue icon by George Rodrigue, on loan from the New Orleans Museum of Art. The Blue Dog Days of Summer: George Rodrigue from the New Orleans Museum of Art will be on display through August 7. Gallery hours are Monday through Friday, noon to 4:00 p.m. and Saturday, 9 a.m. to noon. The gallery will also be open on Sunday, July 4, in conjunction with Slidell Heritage Fest, from 1 to 4 p.m. Admission is free.

Artists from Four States Featured in Mixed Media Exhibit
The works of artists from four southeastern states will soon be on display in the Slidell Cultural Center when the City of Slidell’s nineteenth annual Mixed Media juried exhibition opens on January 15. The competition is open to artists from ten southeastern states. This year a total of 58 entries were received from 24 artists from Louisiana,
Mississippi, Georgia and Tennessee. A total of 35 works by 16 different artists were selected for the exhibit by juror Dale Newkirk.

Exhibit features works of Masters reinterpreted by area artists
The City of Slidell is proud to announce the opening of Reinterpreting the Masters, the Slidell Cultural Center’s new exhibit that features the works Leonardo da Vinci, Vincent Van Gogh, Claude Monet, Pablo Picasso – to only name a few – as reinterpreted by area artists. The exhibit opens on Friday, October 9, from 7 to 9 p.m.

With the fourth anniversary of Hurricane Katrina approaching, the City of Slidell will present “Where Are the Sounds,” a photographic exhibit which captured the destruction of the nation’s greatest natural disaster in the days immediately following the storm.

The city's Department of Cultural & Public Affairs challenged elected officials and community business leaders to become artists for a day.

City of Slidell's Cultural Extravaganza Super Bowl Exhibit
What happens when you give elected officials and community business leaders paint, brushes and large centerpiece bowls? One very unique art exhibit. Join us as we showcase the artwork created by these “artists” and celebrate the grand opening of the new Slidell Cultural Center and the 30th Anniversary of the Commission on the Arts. The bowls will be auctioned on Saturday, August 22, in conjunction with the city’s third annual Cultural Extravaganza, with proceeds dedicated to the City of Slidell’s Outdoor Mural Gallery.
