Slidell’s holiday lighting and Christmas Train and Village still offer viewing options
Though the City of Slidell’s Christmas Under the Stars festivities have ended, the Griffith Park holiday lights and Parade of Trees will continue to be lit nightly until 10 p.m. through Jan 1. The park is located in Olde Towne Slidell, adjacent to City Hall and the Slidell Municipal Auditorium. By popular demand, the Christmas train and village display on the first floor of Hall will also offer extended viewing hours. The display, which is housed in the community meeting room on the first floor of City Hall, will be open from noon to 4 p.m. on Monday, Dec. 21 and Monday and Tuesday, Dec. 28 and 29. Admission is free.
Christmas Under the Stars will proceed indoors tonight; Saturday events cancelled
Though the forecast calls for rain, the City of Slidell’s Christmas Under the Stars festivities will proceed tonight, with entertainment and Santa and Mrs. Claus moving to inside the Slidell Municipal Auditorium, from 6:15 to 9 p.m. As that option is not available Saturday, entertainment for that evening has been cancelled. In the event of rain Sunday, all events scheduled for that evening will be moved to inside the auditorium. The Christmas Train and Village will remain open tonight and Sunday night from 6 to 8 p.m., but will be closed Saturday. Admission is free.
Christmas opening night festivities postponed
The opening night festivities for Christmas Under the Stars have been postponed due to the weather. Weather permitting, the opening ceremony will be added to tomorrow night’s scheduled events, which will now begin at 6 p.m.
