The Department of Cultural & Public Affairs consists of two divisions:
The Cultural Affairs Division is responsible for fostering the arts, humanities, cultural events and specific civic events in the City of Slidell. This Division operates the Slidell Cultural Center and the Slidell Museum, coordinates four annual festivals throughout Olde Towne Slidell, provides assistance to nonprofit art organizations, and presents both local and national talents to the citizens of our community. Under the guidance of the community advisory board, the Commission on the Arts for the City of Slidell, this division creates programming which showcases the power the arts have on enhancing the quality of life for our residents and visitors.
The Public Affairs Division is responsible for the dissemination of information regarding the City of Slidell, including the activities of the administrative and legislative branches, to the public. Duties include design of the Annual Report, public service announcements, press releases, tourism and coordination of the above efforts with private partners.

Impressionist artist Edward Degas once said, “Art is not what you see, but what you make others see.” This philosophy has paved the way to a new program offered by the City of Slidell, designed to help others see the many different facets of the arts. The Cultural Explorers Club, created for children ages 4 to 18, will encourage children’s discovery of five different facets of the arts: symphony music, dance, theatre, visual arts and participation in any visual or performing arts experience. Upon successful completion, the children will be inducted into the City of Slidell’s Cultural Explorers Club, receiving a patch and certificate from Slidell Mayor Freddy Drennan at one of the city’s cultural events in Heritage Park. Some Enchanted Evening Call to ArtistsSome Enchanted Evening 2012 brochureSalad Days 2012 postcardSalad Days 2012 prospectusA Far Cry programSlidell Museum brochure2011 Emergency Information sheetChristmas Under The Stars 2012 brochure Collectible Art is Life Pin Can Help Bring Back the Arts
