In conjunction with Sixteenth Moon Productions, LLC’s filming scenes for the upcoming feature film “Beautiful Creatures,” the City of Slidell has announced the following upcoming boat launch and road closures.
The Heritage Park boat launch and the parking lots within Heritage Park will close on Friday, June 15 at 6 a.m. The central park area, walking path and splash pad will remain available for use all day. Citizens wishing to use the park during this time are requested use the parking lot located immediately outside of the park on the corner of Pennsylvania Avenue and Bayou Lane. Heritage Park will be closed to all vehicular access beginning at 6 p.m. and to all pedestrian access beginning at 8 p.m. All closures will remain in effect until 6 a.m. on Saturday, June 16.
Also on June 15, portions of Bayou Lane between West Hall and Pennsylvania Avenue and portions of Front Street between Pennsylvania Avenue and Fremaux Avenue will experience intermittent traffic delays, in three to five minute intervals, beginning at 7 p.m. through 2 a.m. on June 16. The Front Street intervals will affect traffic entering from Pennsylvania Avenue, Fremaux Avenue, Maine Avenue, Teddy Avenue and First Street. The Slidell Police Department will be on hand to assist in directing traffic. In order to minimize delays, citizens are encouraged to use alternate routes during this time.
“We are delighted that Sixteenth Moon Productions has chosen to film scenes in the Slidell area, and we are working closely with them to ensure that the experience is a good one for both the production company and our citizens,” said Mayor Freddy Drennan. “While we apologize for any inconvenience this may cause for our citizens, we hope they recognize this as part of our ongoing effort to grow the film industry in our area and boost our economy.”
The shoot was initially scheduled to take place on Friday, June 8, but was postponed due to inclement weather.
