As the Executive Officer of the City of Slidell, the Mayor sets municipal policies and provides leadership, vision and direction for Slidell City Government. The Mayor is also the City’s chief representative for all economic development projects and interactions among municipal, state and federal agencies. As Slidell’s primary political leader, the Mayor is also the City’s chief spokesman and public relations official.
Freddy Drennan has spent 32 years of his life protecting and serving the people of St. Tammany Parish, and 7 years as Chief of Police in Picayune, MS. He has managed and directed a force of over 100 employees for the last 7 years and a budget of approximately 6 million dollars each year as Chief of Police of Slidell, LA.
He is an LSU graduate of the Law Enforcement Institute. He is also a graduate of the FBI Executive Development Program in Quantico, VA. He was the 2004 Campaign Chairman of the St. Tammany Parish United Way.
He was elected in 2005 as Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Regional Organized Crime Information Center in Nashville, TN, which is made up of 14 southeastern states.
He was the 2006 president of the Southeast Louisiana Police Chief’s Association; founding chairman of Glitz & Glamour United Way; Board of Directors of the 911 Board; founder and chairman of the Annual Wild Game Cook Off for Community Christian Concern, which raises thousands of dollars each year to help local citizens; 2007 King Samaritan of the Slidell Civic Women’s Club; active member of the Rotary and Lion’s Club; has received a commendation award from Fire District 1 in 2006; Slidell Republican Women’s Leadership Award for 2006; United Way hidden Hero Award for 2008; Elks Lodge Distinguished Citizenship Award for 2008; serves on the Friends of the Harbor Center board;He has been invited as a national guest lecturer and trainer for FBI retainer in MO; COPS Conference in Washington, DC; Maryland Association of Chiefs of Police, Columbia University in S.C., CALEA in Colorado Springs, CO and most recently at Fort Stewart, Georgia for the US Army.
Freddy has been married to Cecelia for 40 years. They have 2 sons, Douglas and Deric, 2 daughters-in-law, Jen and Julie and 5 grandchildren.
